Directions for Asia Museum Project

1) Choose a narrow topic that interested you about ancient Asia (India and China). We discussed some examples in class.

2) Research about that topic using books from the library, district databases, and source information from the unit as needed. (Some topic choices may not require additional research.)

3) Use your knowledge to make connections between your topic and the elements of GRAPES for ancient China. (This should come from connections YOU make between your topic and what we learned in class, not from research.)

4) You will create a Chinese museum exhibit, taking on the role of a curator, that will take up a 2 foot x 2 foot space (your desk). This exhibit may be electronic, pictorial, and/or have 3-dimensional models/artifacts. It may be on a board, on a class computer, or loose on your desk. But each museum exhibit should :

  • Have some thing/s to look at (at least 1 graphic per GRAPES element per civilization)

  • Have some thing/s to read (This should be concise; it should not be an essay!)

  • Educate/inform your visitors in a clear and organized style

  • Be able to be enjoyed independently; you will not be present when people are visiting your display!

5) Information about the criteria on which you will be graded can be found above; however, please remember that this is an end-of-unit project. Your primary responsibility is to showcase what you know about ancient India/China and connect it to what you learned about your topic.

6) You will need to include a source list. This does not have to be a format bibliography, but it must include citations of any sources you have used (i.e. URLs or titles and authors for any research done independently -- i.e. outside of class). This does not have to be emphasized in your display, but I must be able to find it when I grade your project.

7) Have fun!
