These video resources are designed to build your background on the stories of the Old Testament and on your knowledge of the Jewish religion. It is not required that you watch them, but you may watch any or all that look of interest to you. Some of them are developed by organizations, some by groups, and some by religious organizations, and I have tried to include some with serious tones and others with more lighthearted tones. Please do not take everything they say as being factual. Joseph and Whiteboard are part of a single series; David, summaries, and documentaries are not. They are not even made by the same producers. You may watch any of the videos that are of interest to you. (The David series does all contain different parts of the David story; focus on whatever you wish. And if you want to watch them during work periods, this is allowed IF you have brought your own headphones. Otherwise, no.
Grading Criteria for Fertile Crescent Project
Due: April 8th (may be turned in on April 18th by 8:20 AM with no deduction)
Total Possible Points: out of 100 points
1) Quality of connections (based on inference/analysis): out of 20 points
2) Shows strong content knowledge of 3 civilizations of the Fertile Crescent (all should be represented and information should be based on what we learned in class): out of 15 points
3) Strong connections to GRAPES (based on connections/analysis/content): out of 60 points (10 per component)
4) Creativity/Format: out of 5 points
Directions for Fertile Crescent Project
1) You will create an amusement park with 6 advertised elements (rides, concessions, attractions, etc.). Each element will represent an aspect of GRAPES for the civilizations of the ancient Fertile Crescent (Mesopotamia/Egypt/Israel). These attractions should show how these civilizations influenced/affected each other in each element of GRAPES.
2) Your project must show a clear connection between the civilizations using details you know about each. (The more creatively you work these connections and the more high level your content, the better your grade. You will also get points for being creative in how you integrate the content into your amusement park. Don't just state the obvious!)
3) You may choose one of the following formats for displaying your project: a website, a promotional video, or a brochure (with pictures and written explanation/analysis).
4) Create the video/brochurel/website. (You will have some time to work on this project in class at the end of the unit and we will discuss how to create a website; if you create a website, make sure to include a disclaimer somewhere on the home/contact page.)
5) Decorate the project as appropriate, and make sure your name is visible on it. (Remember to give your amusement park a name!)
6) Have fun!
